Scheme updates due to coronavirus (COVID-19).
Details on how the latest coronavirus measures set out by the Government affect the Scheme.
The necessary social distancing measures to help lessen the impact of the coronavirus pandemic affect the day-to-day running of the Motability Scheme – here are a few Scheme updates to assist customers through this period of uncertainty and details of our actions to keep our customers as mobile as we can.
One of the biggest factors is the closure of dealerships which means orders, handovers and returns are currently not being processed. As a result, if any customer is coming to the end of their lease, we are automatically extending that lease for six months in order to keep those customers mobile.
Similarly, we’ve been receiving a lot of questions from customers who have an MOT due. The Government has stated that any MOTs due to expire after 30 March 2020 will have an automatic six-month extension.
As we’re currently unable to take any orders, we didn’t launch new car prices on 1 April and our online Car Search tool is currently unavailable. Although this may be disappointing, we are watching the situation closely and will advise you as soon as anything changes.
In the meantime, we are focused on keeping customers mobile, with the RAC and Kwik Fit still providing their services, and RSA Motability (RSAM) handling insurance claims. As a business, we are now getting used to being home-based. Our call centre is operating as normal, though with restricted hours of 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. If you do call, please bear with us if you experience longer waiting times than usual.
We also have a page of Scheme FAQs related to coronavirus (COVID-19) and you can read these here – please check back often as these are regularly updated with the latest information for customers.
Customers can also get in touch with us to ask any questions they might have on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
